Most parents are concerned about how their children will deal with alcohol and other drugs. Some parents believe that it's less dangerous for their children to use alcohol. The truth is, alcohol is a drug and it's the drug of choice for most teens. By educating yourself about teenage drinking and drug use, you can help your teenager cope wisely with decisions about drug use.
Alcohol Tobacco
Alcohol is illegal to buy or possess if you are under 21. It is illegal to purchase or possess tobacco if you are under 18.
Drinking increases the risk of injury.  Car crashes, falls, burns, drowning, and suicide are all linked to alcohol and other drug use. Young smokers are 100 times more likely to smoke pot and become addicted to other illicit substances such as heroin and cocaine.
Teens don't drink the same way adults do.  Many teens engage in "binge drinking" and down their drinks quickly so that they will get drunk.
